How much will a rainwater collection system cost?

Getting us involved in the design process early can save hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. A good plan goes a long way.

Potable residential systems range from  $12,500 to $55,000.

The factors that drive costs include:

  • Storage tank size, style, and color (biggest cost factor).

  • Site conditions: New construction or existing buildings

  • Trenching and pipe lengths (second biggest cost factor)

  • Change in slope of grade

  • Existing underground utilities

  • Hard Scape (concrete driveways and paths, stone work, etc)

  • Landscaping and irrigation in place.

  • Number of downspouts on or to be installed on the building(s).

  • Collection from multiple collection areas vs. just one.

  • Gutters (type, material, and existing or not).

The most common sized system for a ranch/residence is a 30K gallon system which typically costs $38-44K depending upon the factors described above.
